New Arrivals at Scampton by Nicolas Trudgian

Aircrew of 49 Squadron sit with their Handley Page Hampden at RAF Scampton
watching curiously as their replacement aircraft arrive in April, 1942.
Within two months the ill-fated Avro Manchester was replaced by the Lancaster on which
49 Squadron would use courageously for the rest of the Second World War.

Limited edition of only 140 worldwide each print is individually hand signed by
the artist and carries the original signatures of:

Wing Commander Jim Flint  DFC GM DFM AE
Warrant Officer Allen Drinkell DFM
Flight Lieutenant Frank Lowe DFM

All flew Hampdens operationally with 49 Squadron

The overall size is 43cm x 31cm.

6TH JULY 1941
Wing Commander Jim Flint DFC GM DFM AE gained the George Medal and Distinguished Flying Medal for the same operation. After being attacked by fighters he had to ditch his Hampden in the North Sea,when abandoning the aircraft off the Cromer coast he realised that the crew where in trouble and went back to assist, but sadly the navigator lost his life later that day and the air-gunner drowned at sea and he was found two days later.
