FIVE IN ONE DAY Of all the Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain P3308 attained the highest tally of enemy aircraft destroyed largely due to one remarkable pilot. Flying this aeroplane with No 605 Squadron from Croydon no fewer than 13.5 were claimed by Acting Sqn Ldr 'Archie' McKellar between the 15th August and the 7th October including, on that last day alone, five Bf109Es. One of the greatest fighter pilots of the Battle 'Archie' McKellar lost his life in combat on the 1st November 1940.
