Bader's Bus Company by Robert Taylor When the revered Tangmere Wing Commander failed to return from a dog-fight over the French coast on 8 August 1941, Cocky Dundas, Johnnie Johnson, Geoff West and Nip Hepple immediately returned to the area in search of their fallen leader. It was a fruitless sortie: Douglas Bader was already in the hands of the enemy. Reminiscent of Bader's usual cryptic radio transmission when arriving over the French coast "Bader's Bus Company on time", on their Spitfires, and hence the title for Robert Taylor's wonderfully atmospheric painting of Douglas Bader's Tangmere Wing Spitfires. Overall print size: 33" x 24" Each print is signed by THREE famous Tangmere Fighter Pilots, all of whom were amongst Douglas Bader's elite corps. Johnnie Johnson, Sir Hugh Dundas and Sir Denis Crowley-Miling Price £200.00 + p&p |
