The Fourth Fighter Group based at
RAF Debden in England was one of the
World War Two fighter outfits. Originally comprised of
RAF Eagle Squadron Pilots, the fourth
would produce some of the greatest aces in
US history.
Its illustrious commander
Colonel Don Blakeslee, himself more than a
triple ace exhibited
consistent leadership and by the wars end,
had flown, more combat hours than than any US
pilot and inspired the fourth to become the
highest scoring fighter group within the
Mighty Eighth Fighter Group.
